LASER hair removal treatments using the Gentlemax Pro are safe for all skin types and colours and are suitable for anyone – men and women – looking for permanent, silkysmooth results.
There are a few different reasons why laser hair removal might be the treatment for you, including PCOS and the menopause – whereby hormone levels cause excess hair growth that can cause low self-esteem and embarrassment. Also, laser hair removal encourages the hair to grow straight, so it’s a great solution for ingrown hairs.
Your practitioner will use a small hand piece to deliver each laser pulse. A treatment could take as little as a few minutes to as long as an hour, depending on the area.
Some patients may feel a slight discomfort with each pulse, often likened to the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. It resolves quickly and is minimised by the patented Dynamic Cooling Device.
The number of sessions depends on the treatment you require and the condition of your skin. For hair removal multiple sessions (typically up to 8) are required. These are sold in courses of 8, and booked 4-6 weeks between each treatment for facial areas, and 6-8 weeks for the body.
You should avoid plucking, electrolysis or waxing for 6 week prior to treatment. Skin should be clean-shaven and thoroughly cleansed. Do not expose the area to sunlight or tanning booth prior to immediately after treatment. Sunblock of SPF30 + needs to be applied.
A cool compress or soothing gel may be applied for comfort. Any redness or swelling should resolve in a few hours.
Prevent sun exposure by applying sunblock SPF30+ immediately after, and avoid sunbathing for at least 3 weeks. In the first few days after treatment, don’t scrub the area.
Permanent side effects are rare and may include redness, swelling, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, blistering and purpura (a laser bruise) in the treated area- these do not usually last more than a few days.
